New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel is set amidst Lakelands most dramatic fells, in the beautiful town of Ambleside. Peace and tranquility, away from the turmoil of modern life - An ideal place to relax, and become refreshed.
Ambleside dates back to approximately AD80 and is one of the most popular towns in the Lake District. Charming side streets reveal the picturesque vernacular architecture of the area. It nestles in the valley near Lake Windermere, providing a majestic panorama.
The Lake District is probably the premier walking region in Britain and has a great many well looked after and defined routes through some of the most dramatic scenery in the world.
The interest in the Lake District generated by the 'Lake Poets' Wordsworth, Southey and Coleridge led by the mid Victorian times to an established tourist trade bringing increasing numbers of visitors to Ambleside and Lake Windermere.
Set amidst Lakeland's most dramatic fells, at the head of the famed Langdale Valley, our New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel nestles beneath the Langdale Pikes and Pavey Ark.
Built on the site of a medieval settlement and in six acres of lawn, fell and pasture, the hotel enjoys the most breathtaking views at every point of the compass.
Log fires in the comfortable quiet lounge offer the opportunity to relax whilst enjoying the view down the valley and over to Lingmoor fell and a friendly and gracious ambience with superb, warm and inviting service assures you of a most enjoyable stay.
The hotel is ideally located for a short break or a holiday: we are surround by hills that will can cater for all levels of walker, horse riding, numerous water sports, shopping in nearby Ambleside, Windermere and the larger towns of Keswick and Kendal.
